The castle Predjamski Grad is one of the most breathtaking tourist attractions in the southwestern part of Slovenia. The current castle that stands on the site was built in the early 1800's and is the third such castle that was built into this large, impressive cave. The newest incarnation of the building, and the one that will be seen by those who go, was built in 1810, and features architecture that plays off the natural landscape. With tunnels through the rock that enable visitors to leave the castle unseen, it is still a great example of using the natural terrain to fortify a castle.
