Barong is a renowned dance performance from the Balinese’s unique dance heritage. The basic meaning of dance is the eternal struggle between good and evil.
Barong is the mythical patron and protector of Bali, who protects the island from evil forces. Its origin dates back to the times of ancient animistic beliefs, common in Bali before the advent of Hinduism. Most of the figures representing the Barong are animals, the most famous of them - Barong Ket.
